Side Hustle is searched on Google a whopping 49,500 times a month, making it a common search phrase.

Today, the Side Hustle meaning is “How to make money on the side”. It usually applies to people who have a job but could apply to business owners too.

You might have a bricks and mortar business and a side hustle. But you would not have one if you did not have another source of income.

What makes it so attractive is you can be do it at home. And, this means, home office tax write offs that mean a large amount of income can be earned without paying additional tax!

What also make them attractive is:

1. You can save money faster if you have more income, and;
2. You can get rid of your soul sucking boss faster if you can save more or even develop your part time business into replacing your job, and;
3. You can make more money without paying more tax, and;
4. You can get a tax rebate even before you make a dime!

I like all 4 of those reasons and others too but they are key.

For me, working from home means I can:

• spend more time in the garden, and;
• can set my own hours, and;
• never face rush hour traffic, and;
• don’t wear out a car getting to and from work, and;
• don’t need the bosses permission to vacation, and;
• can leave and return from long weekends when there is no traffic!

Even though some would consider driving for Lyft or Uber as a side hustle, I would not recommend this. The increased cost of insurance and wear and tear on a vehicle are factors that decrease your return.

I also do not think anything that comes with an investment is a good idea for your part time business either.
