Covid-19 and it’s shorter version, Covid, are names for The Pandemic.
Of course, when you are blogging — similar to the way we speak slang — it is sometimes more natural and easier to say Covid than to type it all out.
The real horrors of the pandemic are:
The loss of life is terrible, for sure. But the loss of living is the real curse of what happened and continues to happen. Not seeing friends or your elderly parents, who are in a nursing home, for instance.
Older people who are at greater risk often end up cocooning at home, not seeing anyone. This is not good for them mentally, as the stimulation keeps the neurological disorders, such as dementia and depression, from faster onset.
Those with a susceptibility to depression suffer. And, similar to the elderly, it is isolation that does this.
Those who have a tendency toward anti social behavior get worse. Why? Again, lack of interaction.
All of the above mean we are not enjoying our lives as much, which is what I was inferring by saying Loss of Living. It’s a time in our lives that is lost.
Of course, the effects of Covid on business are huge too. And, similarly, this is a time that is just lost.
Not all businesses were affected in a negative way. Amazon exploded and, can you imagine how much work there was for services, like phone systems? After all, every major company had to redirect all of their extensions from cubicles and offices to homes, as it was unwise to bring people together.
Switching staff, like customer service, to working from home is another form of isolation, like losing one’s job. So that is another issue with the pandemic, but the reduction in business and loss of profit is huge.
Of course, once the vaccines are out there to a great enough extent that old people and those with other health conditions come out again, business will recover slowly. But, since so many are permanently out of business, the economic recovery cannot be fast.
However, this creates opportunity. Many will be financially hungry, looking for alternative ways to make money. So, business opportunity sellers and those who sell courses on how to make money online or make money blogging, will do well. And those are but a few examples of what is to come.
