Forgive me for the slang — using ‘big bucks’ to describe what is possible in Network Marketing if you understand the back-end — but grabbing your eyeballs was imperative.
To put it bluntly; no one knows this topic better than I do. And if one of a few people on the planet who gets this doesn’t explain it to you, it will cost you a fortune.
To be clear, no where on this page will I talk about building a big downline (except in this paragraph). Though that is a byproduct of how I do what I do.
Now I am going to introduce it to you. But, first, allow me to set this up . .
Most people get into this industry for a specific reason, which is not just making big money but being able to do it and work less.
The word used to describe this is:
However, what I am seeing on Facebook and in other social media platforms is quite the opposite. And that scares me.
Most people are working more and more to chase this dream. Not less!
They exude a euphoria mixed with hope — the slang for that is a made up word; hopium — but have little or no knowledge of how to get there.
“Talk to more people” is all your upline can tell you but how you do that is the key.
You could become really good at meeting people in public. Or; you can hang out on line and spend many hours trying to find people that way.
Both work but both take time.
It is clear from watching the industry (again) over the last 5 years that those who join Network Marketing see this industry kind of the way they see work — meaning the ‘high check’ is a result of hard work.
“The harder I work the more I get!”
They aren’t alone.
Almost every entrepreneur alive believes that working harder is the key. And, sure, hard work never killed anyone but . .
I am here to break you through that style of what I call barrier thinking!
Working smarter is definitely an attractive PLAN B. But how?
Look, just because you are intelligent does not mean you will work out what working smarter actually looks like. And, again, holding on to certain beliefs is a part of human nature, so to fail is common because of how we are hard wired.
I have met some of the sharpest business owners you can imagine and found out that the great majority were shooting themselves in the foot one way or another.
So, if these people are doing it, almost anyone can!
In fact, when I do seminars I explain it this way;
” . . it is like people are walking around with a shotgun strapped to one of their legs. And that gun blows off one of their own feet every single day!“
By the way, this is especially true of the gurus that sell ‘secret’ HOW TO info for anything. Be that to real estate investors, business owners, coaches, mentors, those in a side hustle or Network Marketing.
Read my lips;
“Your road to a dream lifestyle is not dependent on how hard you work and working smarter does not require magic abilities that few are born with nor is there a prerequisite that you have rocket scientist IQ either!”
I would even argue that past failure is not due to the newly invented disease, named by some as self limiting beliefs (at least for most people it is not the cause of failure. In truth, you were likely fed ideas that only work if you can find the time to work harder, which most people can’t, even if they want to.
I don’t know about you, but I have a busy life. And because work harder means more time, if this was the only way, I would have to say:
I simply can’t do it.
Interestingly, nor would I want to!
I have better things to do with my time than working all day in a career, job or business and all night in a side hustle too.
How about you?
Look, I have squat against working hard (I did it for decades). So that is not my point.
What I am saying is; time is all we have.
Time with family pops into mind when I think of this. We can’t let our desire to provide for our family interfere with quality time. And the opposite is true too:
We cannot let our time with family limit what we can do to provide a future for them either.
It almost seems impossible when I describe it that way. Most would see this as a balancing scale with TIME on one side and MONEY on the other.
More time equals less money. More money equals less time. Right? Well . . if the only thing you know to do is work harder to make more then it is right.
I am here to tell you that working harder is not the only answer or doesn’t have to be.
So why do gurus amp people up to do stuff that sooner or later eats up the free time of their followers?
Well, they see it as “the more my team works, the more I make!”
So vested interest is to blame for bad advice or at lest one reason. But there is something far more raw at the crux of this.
The truth? You can’t do what you don’t know.
The companion to that last statement is; mentors and gurus, who charge a lot for their time or course plus uplines can’t teach what they don’t know!
Of course, there are some that are teaching advertising. And their plans appear like a working smarter approach but they still manage to shoot their own foot off . . by eventually requiring more time.
When the topic of working smarter comes up, I need to remind people that others think they are working smarter. I mean, anyone can use those two words, yet few can describe what the minutia of that looks like.
Look, even if they can describe it (the HOW TO), somehow it always seems to comes back to more work at some point.
Yes, the key isn’t doing more of the same if you were already striving to accomplish your best. Instead, it is about discovering exactly what working smarter looks like.
By the way, if your guru or coach or upline could teach you this they would have done it already.
The more moronic piece of advice from many Network Marketing uplines goes like this;
“You gotta talk to more people!”
Really? And then they say you just gotta get to know your prospects and listen to them, which is not wrong but devoid of any specific skills, except listening.
It is more that likely that they do not really know why people follow them and that is why they don’t teach those recruiting skills.
You can’t teach what you don’t know. Indeed.
This reminds me of the very thing that Bugs Bunny so eloquently stated in the popular cartoon he was the star of. What am I referencing? This;
“I must have taken a wrong turn in Albuquerque!”
That is what happens with trial & error method is employed to seek success. Just like Bugs, we get lost.
So is this what happened to the people who have had your ear and your confidence?
Did they go down the trial & error road and not really master the keys of HOW TO do it, then use vague suggestions to try to tell you how to do it?
That last statement ought to make you ponder. Here is another one:
The trial and error method of finding a way to be more successful in any business or side hustle all too often results in more pain for the well meaning hard working person who employs it than in any level of success.
Of course, pain is felt through lost time and money.
Just to clarify, lost money really is a loss in the expectation category. If you start your Network Marketing business and expect that a year from now you will earn a minimum of 4-figures every month from that side hustle and a year goes by and that is not the result, that is ‘lost money’ the way I am describing it.
You might also have lost money on buying inventory but hopefully you do not think that personally reselling product is the key to success in Network Marketing? If you do, that is not where the real money is made (inventory loading is ugly and is a huge topic that is not covered on this page).
What is particularly bothersome about the time aspect is simple. You can always replace money, if you have time. If you don’t, it may be too late.
What is an example of “too late” . . this is just one way to show you the value of time:
Too late to invest in a rental property to have long enough for tenants pay-off your mortgage and build your wealth.
So what do people do that want success badly but are not sure about the key aspects of HOW TO and they are not getting it from their upline?
They turn to Google to find an answer.
Sometimes they don’t go looking for an answer sometimes it comes to them.
For instance, there is Facebook. They have 5,000 data points on everyone that uses that platform regularly, including if you are an entrepreneur or in a certain industry or want to make more money.

If you are the type of determined person who wants a better life, whether you turned to a Google search or saw a Facebook ad (because of a data point they have on you), what usually happens is you are offered a way to spend money to learn how to make money.
Often it begins with something free.
What comes to mind is buying courses to gain HOW TO knowledge. And there is nothing wrong with selling courses but buying them might not make send for one, blatant reason:
You have no idea if the course creator has the working smarter ideas you need so desperately.
My suggestion is; stop buying courses from people who have only proven they can name a problem.
I mean, the number one challenge for most people in the world today is money. Specifically too little of it.
The number 2 problem for most people is time. Specifically too little free time.
It does not take a Brainiac to name them and it does not take Hollywood quality acting skills to pose as a guru with the solution either!
I see lots of social media posting content packages offered, to pinpoint an example. They purport to save you time because they already supply content but the reality is different.
Are you writing blog posts already? Do you have real substance and insights into HOW TO that you can offer others?
Then why would you be thinking of posting content regularly on social media (even if it was created for you)?
You have nothing to send people to.
If you are hoping your posts will go viral (unless you are both good looking and post a lot OR have exceptional skills) you have just entered into an exercise in futility.
Social Media posting is not a guaranteed way to make the big bucks and it takes time. Plus it is not for everyone, And that is the truth.
Earning 4 or 5 figures a month can be for a far greater percentage of people by using other HOW TO ideas than by social media posting.
Of course, so many of the ideas that are sold in courses require an outlay to follow a system. And is that accurately presented to the course buyers?
Well, (1) that cost is relatively significant, which ends up being a barrier to entry for most people. In addition, (2) the “lead time” between such an investment and a significant return from the system is usually longer then the described ideal scenario.
Hint; double their proposed out of pocket cost before you make a return!
These courses, that cost money, teach a system of advertising that includes an autoresponder, a funnel system and ads. This is more money.
Unnecessary expenditures bother me. And I am not talking about the funnel system but the course!
When I drop a hint to double the budget, what I am saying is think of all your costs over 2 months, not one. Because the time to get a return is usually longer than optimal for a newbie.
Scaling back the ad spend is not a good solution to this. Why? Because of fixed monthly costs.
Autoresponders and funnel systems are paid monthly. So, if you decrease the monthly ad budget to stretch money out to 2 months of a running system instead of 1, you increase the cost per course buyer or free download (that leads to a course sale).
Most course do not teach this stuff. They teach that the course buyer pays for the ad, so it is self funding. But then what?
Well, you sell a system to the course buyer — they replicate something similar to what you have done. Copycat marketing.
Of course, they get paid for your monthly funnel system. So, there is a profit there.
What about the time needed talk to prospective funnel system buyers to help them understand what they are buying?
Gobble, gobble, gobble, money and time!
Instead we could look at another way to do this. I mean, most business owners would like more money. When we tell them that their customers are worth more than they think and that this added profit could be theirs without risk or cost, we get their attention.
They do not know how to generate new business without it costing them money.
The how to is simple.
You offer to give a sample product to each of their customers (who want one). This costs you 50 cents per customer plus a stamp.
They advertise for free to their own customers, create a bunch of people who want free samples . . and you eliminate the cost of advertising, buying a course and a funnel system.
Now, there are some tricks to this one simple example, which is in a book a wrote. But I am not here to get you to buy it.
